Electric vehicles have taken the automobile industry by storm in recent years, with Ford and Tesla being two of the biggest players in the market. While Ford has been around for over a century, Tesla emerged only a few years ago and quickly became a household name.

Model S vs Mustang Mach-E

Tesla’s flagship sedan, the Model S, set the tone for the brand’s future electric vehicles. It boasts a range of up to 391 miles, making it one of the longest-range EVs on the market. On the other hand, the newly launched Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s EV foray into the SUV category.

It has a range of up to 300 miles, making it a solid competitor for the Model S. However, the Model S beats the Mach-E in terms of acceleration, reaching 60 mph in just under 2 seconds.

Model X vs Mustang Mach-E

Like the Model S, Tesla’s Model X is a luxury SUV with a range of up to 371 miles. The Mustang Mach-E, on the other hand, has a lower range of up to 300 miles. However, the Mach-E shines in terms of storage space with 59.7 cubic feet of cargo space, as opposed to the Model X’s 88 cubic feet of storage. The Mach-E is also more affordable than the Model X, with a starting price of $42,895 compared to the Model X’s $79,990.

Model Y vs Ford Escape Hybrid

Ford’s hybrid SUV, the Escape, has been a popular vehicle for the brand and has recently been introduced as a hybrid EV. The 2021 Escape Hybrid boasts a range of up to 37 miles on electric power alone.

On the other hand, Tesla’s Model Y is a luxury SUV with a range of up to 326 miles. Though the Model Y has a higher range, the Escape Hybrid is more affordable, with a starting price of $28,265 compared to the Model Y’s starting price of $41,190.

F-150 Lightning vs Cybertruck

Ford’s F-150 is one of the most popular trucks in the market, and the brand’s EV version is the F-150 Lightning. This electric pickup truck boasts a range of up to 300 miles, making it a direct competitor to Tesla’s Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck, however, has a longer range of up to 500 miles and is more powerful, reaching 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds. However, the F-150 Lightning has a more traditional look, which may be more appealing to some buyers.

Charging Network

One factor that sets Tesla apart is its extensive charging network. The company has over 25,000 fast-charging Superchargers worldwide, making it easier for Tesla owners to travel long distances without worrying about running out of juice. While Ford has announced plans to build its fast-charging network, it pales compared to Tesla’s network. This may be a dealbreaker for some buyers who value convenience and ease of use.
